THE OMEGA PROJECT - RUSSIA AND UKRAINE

A Bible for every Russian Jew who wants one!

MediaServe launched a strategic initiative in March 2003 to make a special Bible available to Russian Jews who are interested in reading God’s Word. Known as The Omega Project, the outreach is a systematic effort to offer a free Bible to every Jewish home in Russia and Ukraine.

The Bible used in this distribution celebrates Jewish heritage. The unique cover has striking illustrations of the Star of David and menorah. Inside is a special feature highlighting Biblical references to God’s promises to the Jews, including the messianic prophecies.

The Omega Project began by mailing 60,000 postcards offering Bibles to Jews in a remote Siberian city. More than 2,600 responded to the offer. Cards are now being mailed locally to Jewish households in Ukaine and more than 38,000 have asked for Bibles in Russia and 3,702 in Ukraine.

Through this ministry, Russian Jews who might never have picked up a traditional Bible are reading God’s Word for themselves. And many are coming to faith in Jesus – Yeshua in Hebrew – as their promised Saviour and Redeemer.

Response to this outreach has been most encouraging. Here’s a few letters from grateful recipients:

– I received a letter addressed to my mother. She passed away about six years ago. But I like your offer of the ‘Holy Scriptures’ book very much. Please send me a copy. PS: If it matters to you, I can tell you I am Jewish, too!

– I am a Jew, but grew up among Russians and think as a Russian. I looked through the book, Holy Scriptures, and realized that it’s for Russians as well as Jews! Reading the book thoroughly one more time, I applied the events to my own life and was amazed at the strength and spirit of the Jewish nation.
If possible, please send the “Holy Scriptures” to my daughter, too. She identifies herself as Russian, but sometimes Jewish friends recognize the “family” spirit!
