The Arab League consists of 22 countries in the Middle East and North Africa adding up to just over 300 million Arabs. There are approximately 41 million (12.5%) Christians living in the Arab world today. Christianity has its roots in the Middle East and from there the Christian message spread to other nations of the world. Unfortunately there has been a dramatic drop of the Christian population in the Arab world, especially over the last decade. In some parts of Iraq for example Christians were the majority until the 14th century. By 2000, there were less than 5% and now it is even less.
As communities and families are threatened by violence and war, Europe has seen an increase of refugees from Iraq, Iran and Syria. Both Muslim and Christian seek refuge. It’s a great opportunity for the church in Europe to share the Gospel with them!
